James Matthews, M.D. was born in Brooklyn, New York, and is now happily married, and a parent of two young children.
He has served in the United States Navy as an Operations Specialist, graduated with honors from the State University of New York at Stony Brook with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, and from the State University of New York at Brooklyn, "Downstate" College of Medicine as a Doctor of Medicine.
He did his residency at the University of Connecticut's affiliate, Middlesex Hospital, and was Board Certified in Family Medicine in 2003.
After residency, Dr. Matthews had developed an “Idealized Clinical Office” based on the Institute for Healthcare Improvement's IDCOP model in Gaithersburg, Maryland, where he was successfully practicing for 7 years, when he chose to partner with Marc Posner, M.D. at Downtown Baltimore Family Care, where he has more time for patient care.
